Digital maps mostly focus on the street network. Even though a lot of traffic is by car, many people travel by train. As there was no modern interactive map featuring the german rail network prominently, I took the open data available from Deutsche Bahn and put it on a Mapbox GL map.

The user can find the rail stations close to their position, discover where there are connections and shows which regions are hard to reach by train. Each station provides a link to check connections at the Deutsche Bahn website.

This project proves especially useful when planning hiking or biking trips.
